"E.T."

Yes. As in the movie "E.T."
Now I remember as a kid LOVING this movie. In fact, my brother, sisters and I had several E.T. toys. So when Jehremy Netflixed the movie the other day for Kyle, I was ready to share all the fond memories with my firstborn. Let's just say it was definitely an experience I'm going to remember for a while.
First, I completely forgot the part where Elliott calls his older brother "penis breath". While I find that phrase utterly hilarious, hearing it come out of my 5-yr old's mouth isn't so amusing. The rest of the movie is going along fairly smoothly until the part where E.T. is "captured" by the evil government and becomes very sick. I was suddenly brought right back to my childhood years, remembering that I would cry every single time I watched this movie. But certainly my goofy boy wouldn't even "get" the sadness, right?
As I'm ironing near the tv, I see Kyle get up and walk quickly over to the screen door, letting out some strange sound. As I look over, his sweet eyes are completely welled up with tears! I tell him to come sit with me and he starts sobbing! And let's face it, when Elliott and the rest of his family have to say goodbye to E.T. forever (FOREVER!), it really is sad. So there we sat. Mother and son. Sobbing over the departure of E.T. Oh, the memories. And I can't decide if *my* tears were really because of E.T.'s trip back home or the sudden realization that my baby is growing up.

Awwwwwwwwwww! So sweet! I remember seeing it with our babysitter (on account of being a latch key kid and all) and her little boy coming down the aisle and saying "Mom! I'm crying!" I haven't seen it in years, though we do own it. You're saying I may not want to bust it out for family fun night?

Oh I cried watching that movie too as a child. ET phone home.

How sweet that you and your boy have a good cry over it too.

That is so sweet! (Even though I have never been a fan of ET).
